Ryan Connor from Coronation Street recently began a fitness journey and chose to document his progress on social media.
Ryan Connor’s (Ryan Prescott) health on Coronation Street can deteriorate when he passes out in the street following his steroid use.
Since being attacked with acid by Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still) along with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Ryan has been having identity issues.
The situation worsened when Ryan realised Daisy had been catfishing him into believing Crystal (Erin Austen), who was in Ibiza, was still interested in their romance.
Ryan began to keep track of his gym progress after Carla Connor (Alison King) unintentionally posted a picture of his body on social media and he noticed he was receiving a lot of positive feedback.
Ryan, however, made a significant choice when he bought the steroids, which he has been using covertly in his room.
Later shots show Ryan pulling a box of steroids out from under his bed, only to be crushed to find that the vials have leaked, costing him money.
Carla comments on the fact that he almost ever leaves his room these days when he comes out of his bedroom and encourages him to go see Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) for lunch.
Alya confides in Carla after their meal that Ryan seems restless and distracted, leading her to suspect that something is wrong.
Later, Ryan hides the needle in his palm as he enters his bedroom as Carla is making his bed.
He makes an effort to control his fury, but once Carla leaves, he strikes the wardrobe out of rage, plainly suffering from the negative effects of the steroids.
Later that week, Ryan experiences heart palpitations and his legs give way while he is returning from a run.
When Mickey North’s character Gary Windass passes by, he runs to Ryan’s help and exhorts him to take deep breaths.
Gary asks Ryan, who has his energy drink in hand, if he has taken anything else since first detecting the symptoms.
Will Ryan’s use of steroids be questioned? How will he explain his collapse to Gary?
Could Alya be the one to assist him overcome his addiction if she learns about his use of steroids, reestablishing their relationship?
