Ryan Stocks from Emmerdale recently learned that the child he and partner Gail Loman gave up for adoption more than ten years ago is now back in their lives.
Fans were shocked to see Ryan Stocks (James Moore) leave the Emmerdale community earlier this week.
But a day later he unexpectedly made a comeback in poignant scenes.
After Ryan’s secret son, who he and his partner Gail Loman (Rachael Gill-Davis) had unexpectedly given up for adoption more than ten years prior, unexpectedly returned to his life, Ryan initially made the decision to leave the Dales.
The adored character made the decision to take a break to reflect just as viewers were beginning to understand that Ryan was in fact a father and that Gail had become pregnant during their long-ago first date.
He also didn’t say at the time when he might go home.

Fortunately for his fans, the character didn’t stay away for too long because he made an appearance in the most recent ITV soap opera episode.
Gail was surprised but also relieved to see him after only one day away.
Finally, the two could talk about his decision to leave and his reluctance to meet their son.
While Ryan explained why he was afraid to meet Oscar for the first time properly, Gail apologized for keeping information from him. She had been in touch with Oscar’s adoptive mother, Sophie, after learning that he was ill and might require a genetic stem cell transplant match.

He feared Oscar wouldn’t want to meet him and would be “disappointed” when he did.
Gail questioned Ryan about what he meant by that during their open discussion, and Ryan quickly brought up a previous remark she had made when they had given Oscar up for adoption.
While she had mentioned that having a child would be challenging for them, she had also brought up Ryan’s cerebral palsy as one of those challenges, leading Ryan to believe that she would have had to “do everything on her own.”
He feared that he was to blame for Gail giving their son up for adoption, and this fear as well as the fact that he was “no use to anyone” drove him to leave.

Ryan was reassured by Gail that their choice from all those years ago wasn’t solely based on his medical condition.
“I’m afraid he’ll hate me because I gave him up, abandoned him,” Ryan admitted. I would despise him if I were him.
Despite this, he promised to support Oscar in any way he could, even though he might still need some time to process everything.
