Coronation Street’s Billy Mayhew star details ‘disappointment’ over Paul Foreman wedding

Fans of Coronation Street witnessed Billy Mayhew and partner Paul Foreman legally wed, though their wedding wasn’t exactly how he had imagined.

In the Bistro on Monday night’s episode of Coronation Street, Billy Mayhew, played by Daniel Brocklebank, wed Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash.

Later, after finding a vicar who would agree to marry them, ITV viewers watched as Paul surprised Billy with a private ceremony at his church.

As he and his new husband exchanged vows in their place of worship during the episode, Billy was brought to tears.

Daniel Brocklebank, a soap actor, discussed how his character felt before realizing the big surprise in an interview with Express.co.uk and other media outlets because he was unaware of the spontaneous church wedding.

“I think he was a little let down, I mean Billy is obviously a religious character,” he said.

“If you look back at his life in Corrie, there were some things he was very adamant about, like not getting married because he didn’t want to have a secular ceremony.

He obviously wanted to do it during a religious service.

However, Billy was led to believe they were getting married at the Bistro because Church of England regulations prohibit same-sex couples from getting married in a religious setting.

Of course, he would have preferred to get married in a church, but I believe Paul’s illness has motivated him to move the wedding forward.

Time is not on their side, which I believe will influence his decision to take this action.

However, despite the fact that the situation is not ideal, I believe he is very conscious of not showing Paul any signs of disappointment.

He wouldn’t want Paul to think that this is inferior or insufficient in any way.

He has therefore done everything possible to prevent that from happening.

Billy and Paul appear to be in trouble after a picture of them exchanging vows was discovered at the church.

According to official spoilers, he will be permanently suspended by the church for violating the prohibition against same-sex unions.

Will Billy remain silent and accept the consequences without speaking? Or will he maintain his position and stick to his choice?
