Claire (Hayley Erin) will probably have the most difficulty adjusting to a new normal as the Newman family on The Young and the Restless tries to move past this chapter with Jordan (Colleen Zenk).
Claire faces a challenging voyage ahead of her in an attempt to blend in with the entire Newman clan, in addition to completing her therapy with a therapist to heal from the years of deceit and psychological abuse imposed upon her by her great-aunt. Although Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor (Eric Braeden) have forgiven Claire and welcomed her into their household, and even Victoria (Amelia Heinle) has accepted her daughter, it appears that acceptance won’t be as simple for the others.
The first indication of Claire’s likely rejection by some family members appeared in the programs that aired the week of March 11. Adam snapped at his new niece as Nikki, Victoria, Claire, Adam (Mark Grossman), and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) were at the Newman Ranch fretting over Victor’s willingness to travel with Jordan. He was very emphatic in saying that nobody should trust her, and Victoria and Cole naturally defended their daughter.

Then, in the March 19 episode of The Young and the Restless, Summer (Allison Lanier) makes the decision to see her grandfather and father at the Newman Ranch in order to learn more about Claire’s background. As she and Kyle (Michael Mealor) debated whether to have Claire take care of Harrison (Kellen Enriquez), Summer decided to conduct her own research because Victoria hadn’t been as transparent about her new daughter.
Summer is understandably incensed as Victor divulges all the graphic details, but she also finds it puzzling that her grandfather could be so kind. Summer is reluctant to concede that Claire was a victim in Jordan’s scheme, despite Victor’s insistence to the contrary.
When Summer turns to Joshua Morrow’s character Nick for advice, Nick shares that although he’s willing to give Claire a chance to prove herself, he’s not quite ready to embrace her in her entirety because of what Clarie did to destroy Nikki’s sobriety. For Victoria’s sake, Nick did, however, promise to give it a shot with Claire.

Having said all of that, there are rumors that Victor will throw a dinner party with a large number of the Newman family members to welcome Claire into the family. We can only image the fireworks that will occur if that turns out to be true.
Given that certain Newmans aren’t the best at keeping their emotions hidden, Victor and Nikki may be hoping for a quiet celebration, but we can expect some heated exchanges in the near future, including the unexpected one between Nick and Victoria.
Nick and Victoria have shown over the years that they are actually best friends rather than just siblings. Despite their fair share of arguments, they ultimately realize they can count on one another. But will that dynamic alter given Nick’s level of anxiety around Claire? Being a fiercely protective mother, Victoria might be prepared to fight Nick in order to safeguard her daughter.
Adam, who isn’t one to stay out of sibling drama these days, will probably be more than happy to back Nick in any conflict that arises between Victoria and Claire. It’s actually not difficult to see a scene where Adam attacks Claire first, then Victoria defends her, only to be taken aback when Nick intervenes to support Adam’s side. Since the brothers are getting along well these days at Newman Enterprises, Nick might support his brother when it comes to his niece in front of his sister.

Cole is also expected to attend this supposed family get-together, so don’t expect him to watch helplessly while Victoria and his daughter are attacked. Even though he’s not a Newman, he’s a new father with his own family to defend. Furthermore, he would want to show Victoria that he is always there for her, since he is obviously yearning for a second chance at a meaningful relationship.
We acknowledge that this is all conjecture at this moment, but we find the prospect of Nick and Adam teaming up against Victoria to be intriguing.
