The Truth About Heather’s Cobalt Poisoning on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Many viewers thought Heather was developing a fresh plan to elude police custody and go on another rampage when she was originally taken to the hospital on GENERAL HOSPITAL. However, it was discovered that Heather, the prisoner/patient, had cobalt poisoning and Robert declared that she would be incarcerated at San Quentin to stop any more escapes!

Dr. Enoch clarified that cobalt toxicity resulted from Heather’s previous hip replacement and that the illness might have both physical and psychological symptoms. Furthermore, this is a legitimate medical issue. Cobalt toxicity can result from the wear and tear of some cobalt/chromium metal hip implants, which can discharge metal particles into the circulation and hip socket.

Physical symptoms such as cardiomyopathy, deafness, nerve disorders, tinnitus, and visual issues are typically the first signs of cobalt toxicity. Psychological symptoms, such as sadness and dementia, are also possible.

When it became apparent that Richard Webber’s character on the primetime television show Grey’s Anatomy was experiencing cognitive deterioration due to a leaking hip replacement, the show ran a cobalt toxicity storyline back in 2000. Richard started his recovery and got back to normal after getting his hip replacement replaced and getting rid of the poisons in his body.

The cobalt toxicity diagnosis seems to be the new headwriting team’s attempt to correct the course and bring Heather Webber back to a more likable state, as some devoted GH viewers have long complained that the character has turned into a murderous psychopath over time. At least this is a more imaginative explanation than the typical soap opera explanation, which usually blames psychopathic conduct on brain tumors (as in the case of Heather’s son, Franco Baldwin).

Watch to see if Heather regains her more composed psychological state, and then take our online poll to express your thoughts on the character!
