Coronation Street Favourite Upset As She Faces The Sack

Due to homeschooling and taking care of her son Liam (Charlie Wrenshall), Maria hasn’t been working at the salon in recent weeks.

Maria and Gary (Mikey North) recently learned that youngster Liam was experiencing suicidal thoughts on the ITV soap opera.

Liam lost all hope after experiencing constant bullying at school from a bunch of boys, and he started looking up ways to commit suicide online.

Luckily, Maria and Gary were able to locate him in time. Liam is currently on the path to recovery and is making a lot of effort to regain his confidence. Maria took him to the doctor to receive therapy for his mental health.

Although Liam has come a long way, Maria’s concerns about him and his mental health have not gone away.

In subsequent episodes, the hairdresser’s concern begins to affect other aspects of her life as she worries incessantly about what might happen to her son if he is left alone.

When David (Jack P Shepherd) discovers Maria, he informs her that Audrey (Sue Nicholls) would look to replace her if she doesn’t get back to work very soon.

Maria confides in Gary, telling him that even though they need the money, she doesn’t feel ready to leave Liam and that she might lose her job if she doesn’t return in the coming weeks.

Gary then goes over to Allison King’s character Carla and says he’s considering selling the manufacturing building and would like her to have first dibs. Carla eventually concedes that she cannot truly afford the offer, despite the fact that it is a tremendous one that may greatly benefit Maria and Gary.

Can the family make ends meet with Gary’s salary alone, though, if Maria isn’t ready to go back to work full-time?

Or will she be so terrified of what might happen to Liam if he’s left alone that she goes to the salon?
