Having worked in the Street since 1989, Steve has established himself as a Weatherfield icon. He has been a devoted fan favorite because to his friendship with Eileen Grimshaw, his bromance with Tim Metcalfe, and his numerous marriages and divorces.

When Steve was younger, he got into all kinds of trouble, which stressed out his parents a lot. He appeared to be a true straight out of the old block, matching his dad Jim’s criminal activities in terms of schemes and scrapes.

Steve launched his own company in an effort to turn his life around, but he spent some time behind bars for dealing in stolen items.

However, since then, he has repeatedly settled down, run the Rovers, created Street Cars, battled depression, and mourned the loss of two children.

Working for Mike Baldwin at MVB Print in 1994 was Steve’s job. Steve earned enough money from the horses when he struck it lucky to buy Mike out.

However, Steve quickly found himself in debt to loan sharks due to the overwhelming urge to continue gambling. Steve was in serious trouble when he added a few bottles of questionable whisky.

In an attempt to utilize affluent Vicky Arden’s money to pay off his obligations, he married her. However, their marriage fell apart when Vicky gave a false statement to the police about him. Being hurt by an ex seems like a terrible romantic decision, huh?

Who has Steve been married to?

Steve’s first marriage, Vicky, was most definitely not his last! Steve has had numerous spouses since his teenage romance with the wealthy Vicky.

Following Vicky, Steve began dating Karen Phillips, a worker at a factory.

She bet Janice Battersby that she could get Steve to pop the question, which she did, and that they would eventually get married. Steve and Karen were taken aback when they realized they had to say “I do,” but they managed to work things out, and their intense union was initially prosperous.

They had a rocky start when Steve believed Karen was having an affair, leading to their breakup. Steve and Karen agreed to obtain a divorce (are you keeping up?) so that Karen could have the lavish wedding of her dreams, but not before Steve had an affair with Tracy Barlow—more on that later.

Even though they did walk down the aisle, they eventually broke up since Steve turned out to be Tracy’s baby’s father, Amy.

Following Karen, Steve dated Michelle Connor; however, their relationship ended when he developed feelings for Becky Granger. He eventually made it down the aisle with Becky; they were meant to be together.

However, he briefly dated Tracy Barlow again, things became complicated, and that was the end of it.

Steve returned to Michelle and they exchanged vows. When Michelle became pregnant, they were thrilled, but sadly, their baby Ruairi was born too soon and died.

Michelle was shocked to learn that Steve was Oliver’s father as she didn’t know he had slept with Leanne Battersby, who was also expecting.

Consequently, Steve and Tracy were reunited. They exchanged vows during the reception, but with some stellar Corrie drama. But let’s not forget that, in legal terms, Tracy is a murderer—far more dubious than having once been a drug user!

Of course, following Tracy’s lustful liaison with Tommy Orpington, the two have now broken up.

Steve wed Karen twice: first in a hastily conducted register office ceremony and secondly in an elegant church ceremony. He is also the second husband of Tracy Barlow. There was a lot of drama at the reception after both weddings.

His second marriage to Tracy ended badly when Leanne unintentionally revealed that she and Steve had a one-night affair. His previous marriage to Tracy was destroyed when his ex-wife Becky revealed that Tracy had lied about her miscarriage.

Although Steve and Becky were never married, they were married twice. When a worried Becky drank too much to ease her anxiety and ended up inebriated during the ceremony, the first wedding had to be called off!

Their second ended in drama when Becky was arrested at the ceremony.

In addition to his problematic spouses, Steve has also had a few challenging girlfriends. A woman named Ronnie Clayton applied to work at Street Cars back in 2005. Steve fell in love at first sight. However, he was unaware that Ronnie’s former husband was also the owner of a rival taxi company and a bit of a thug.

After several pranks, the two eventually got into a fight one day. When Ronnie was out driving for Street Cars, Steve took solace in sleeping with Kelly Crabtree. Ronnie pushed over a man, who subsequently died, while attempting to reach Steve.

Steve was the main suspect in the hit-and-run investigation because he accepted responsibility for Ronnie’s speeding ticket that day!

Who plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street?

Simon Gregson has portrayed Steve since 1989. When he got the part that turned him into a household name, he was only a teenager.

After Nicholas Cochrane, a friend from school, was chosen to play Steve’s twin brother Andy, he was given the opportunity.

Simon’s coloring matched Nicholas’s, so the Corrie casting directors requested him to come in for an audition and extended an offer to take on the role of Steve.

Who is he married to in real life?.

Simon wed Emma Gleave in 2010.
