Star of Beloved Home and Away Lynne McGranger gave fans a major health update on social media, stating that it had been “a long time coming.”
McGranger had surgery less than a week ago to treat a “toxic overactive thyroid,” a condition she called “incompatible” with her overall health and well-being.
Following the treatment, the 71-year-old McGranger shared her appreciation and relief on Instagram in a moving post.
She commented on Monday, “It was a long time coming—we were incompatible and quite frankly I was exhausted.”
The actress thanked the staff at Mater Hospital North Sydney for playing crucial roles in her rehabilitation and successful operation.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team at Mater Hospital North Sydney for making this significant life transition so much simpler than it could have been,” she added.
McGranger made particular mention of the commitment of several employees who delivered excellent care, including nurses, physicians, specialists, and administrative staff.
“I apologize for the vomit, but I would especially like to thank Prof. Sidhu, Dr. Michael Morris, Annie, Anna, Karen, and Kenny.”
“I couldn’t recommend The Mater highly enough—what an amazing example of healthcare provided correctly!”
The actress also joked that she didn’t miss her “dirty thyroid” at all and reassured fans that she was recovering nicely in a lighter note regarding her health.
“Wait for scar spam,” she jokingly said.
Many fans who wished McGranger well in the comments were moved by her candor regarding her health issues and the care she got.
