After making a significant discovery the previous week, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) is able to locate hard proof that connects the infamous River Boy gang of Mangrove River to the murder of his predecessor, Franklin McGrath.
Cash has been looking into McGrath’s death with his partner Constable Joanna Devlin (Ariadne Sgouros), ever since they were assigned to the town’s dilapidated police department. The corpse was discovered disposed of in a nearby dam subsequent to his decision to monitor the River Boys continuously, indicating that the gang was undoubtedly responsible.

Jo cautioned Cash to be caution because the River Boys essentially controlled the town, but by the time Cash realized that the gang’s leader was none other than Rory Templeton (Joshua Orpin), his sister Felicity’s (Jacqui Purvis) new lover, it had already turned personal.

When Rory realized who his latest police foe was, he was just as astonished as Cash, but he believed he could somehow turn the friendship with Flick to his advantage.
Cash instructed Jo to run a list of numberplates through the system after he conducted some surveillance of his own at the River Boy hangout.

Jo took the initiative to request video from one of the national park’s animal cameras, which showed that Dingo’s car had been in the area even though CCTV near the dam had turned up nothing.
Next week, while Cash and Jo examine the video, Cash makes use of the enchanted “ENHANCE” button, which is limited to the screen of procedural police dramas.

The driver has a tattoo on his arm that reads “Blood and Sand.” Jo notices that they have Dingo’s matching tattoo from his previous arrest on file, so they can bring him in for interrogation.
Well, if they could locate him, that is. Dingo goes to Summer Bay and finds Rory in Salt after learning that the cops are searching for him and have already seized his vehicle. Despite Dingo’s assurances to Rory that he had cleaned the car, he remains uneasy and questions if Flick is aware of Cash’s strategy.

Knowing that Cash will be there, Rory recommends to Flick that they return to her apartment. Before long, he’s telling the copper all about his day. Apart from the fact that obtaining Dingo’s car was a highlight, Cash is keeping everything a secret.
The following day, Rory and Dingo determine that the best course of action is to confront the situation head-on and proceed to the police station where Dingo will be questioned. He finally says that he was just going fishing in the region and doesn’t recall who was in the car with him, even though at first he denies being the driver and points out that several of the boys have the same tattoo.

Cash lets Dingo go as there isn’t much more to say at that point. Considering that there is nothing linking them to McGrath, Rory reassures him that they are secure. Until Dingo goes on to say that he might have preserved a few mementos.
Dingo has been such a drongo that Rory can’t believe it and tells him to get rid of them.

Dingo makes the wise decision to contact Mali (Kyle Shilling), believing he still owes them further favors. Giving the padlocked bag to him, he gives him instructions to protect it.
Mali thinks about speaking with Cash, but he eventually opens out to Tane (Ethan Browne) and shows him the bag.

Mali notes that the Dingo would know if they broke the lock, but Tane believes they should open it to see exactly what they’re dealing with.
Tane attempts to open it using his lock-picking prowess, but he is unsuccessful. Mali determines that it would be better to simply try to find a way to get rid of it.

Due to the growing evidence against Dingo, Cash and Jo are eventually given a warrant to search the River Boy hangout later in the week. Rose (Kirsty Marillier) and other cops are called in from Yabbie Creek to help.
Recognizing the potential consequences, Cash assigns Eden the difficult duty of keeping Flick occupied during the day and far away from Mangrove River—a difficult task given that Flick is aware that Rory has the afternoon free.

Mali chooses to pry open the bag’s latch after overhearing Cash discussing Dingo in the interim.
Examining the contents (and leaving his fingerprints everywhere), Mali discovers Franklin McGrath’s ID card and wallet along with a towel-wrapped, bloody crowbar.

After telling him about the bag and that he won’t be involved, Mali confronts Rory. Furious, Rory storms back to the hangout and smacks Dingo in the face for being such an idiot.
He had instructed him to dispose of the bag, not to give it to a stranger! Dingo says he’ll take care of it, but it might be too late already.

Cash finds out at the police station that forensics have discovered evidence of McGrath’s blood in Dingo’s vehicle—they’ve got him!
Mali, not wanting to wait around any longer, just so happens to select that moment to return the bag to Dingo as the cops get ready to raid the hangout. Just as the police approach, he tosses Dingo the bag holding the crucial proof.
