Although Sophie Khan Levy, an actress on EastEnders, has been on our screens for a while, viewers have just now become aware of her relationship to a well-known soap opera actor.
When viewers of EastEnders learned that Sophie Khan Levy, who plays Priya Nandra-Hart, has a well-known mother, they were shocked. Priya (Sophie Khan Levy), who was Ravi’s (Aaron Thiara) previous lover and mother to Avani (Aaliyah James), came in Walford last year.
Both Ravi and the rest of the Panesar family were shocked to learn that he had a secret daughter at that moment. Before long, Priya and Avani caused quite a bit of commotion.
Priya and Avani’s time in the square hasn’t been peaceful at all, what with the Panesar family’s disagreements and Priya’s personal romantic issues. After her irascible grandpa Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), who is facing a terminal illness, experienced a near-death experience this week on the soap opera, Priya found herself rallying around Avani.
Actress Sophie Khan Levy is no stranger to the spotlight off film. She portrayed Gabrielle Ade in the terrifying real-life BBC thriller The Sixth Commandment in 2023. In 2022, she also played the roles of Beth in James Corden’s Amazon Prime series Mammals and Florence Pandhi in the veterinarian drama All Creatures Great and Small. But as the Mirror notes, fans have since learned that Sophie has a fairly well-known family member.
Shaheen Khan, who gained notoriety for her portrayal of Mrs. Bhamra in the 2002 movie Bend It Like Beckham, is Sophie’s mother. In the late 1980s, she also portrayed Kiran Joghill in the BBC medical soap opera Casualty. She has also had appearances in Doctor Who and Doctors on the BBC.
After learning that Shaheen is Sophie’s real-life mother, many were shocked. One TikTok user said, “Omg didn’t know the bend it like Beckham mum was her mum.”
“I didn’t know this, I love the film Bend It Like Beckham and she’s so good as Priya,” remarked a shocked admirer.
“The way I went and told everyone in my household they’re mother and daughter in real life, so surprised,” expressed the reaction of a third person.
Sophie exclaimed last year, “I’m super excited to be joining the show, and I can’t wait to see what trouble Priya gets herself into!” in reference to her part on EastEnders. She said, “I watched EastEnders when I was growing up, so to see so many familiar faces and to walk onto the set is a dream come true.”
