Following an intense period of romance, heartache, and suspense, Home and Away returns for its 38th season!

Since 1988, the well-known Australian soap opera has been a mainstay of television, enthralling viewers with its mix of drama set in the sun and likable characters. The new story twists and the new characters joining the adored Summer Bay locals have fans giddy with anticipation as the program returns.

Who is leaving Home and Away?

Sadly, fans had to bid farewell to several of their favorite characters at the conclusion of the 2024 series after they had left their imprint on Summer Bay.

After the 37th season, Jacqui Purvis left the long-running soap opera after three years in the Bay as Felicity Newman.

Fans have interpreted Luke Van Os’s absence from the show’s filming as a sign that he did not extend his three-year contract, which has led to rumors that he will also not be returning to the franchise, according to Back to the Bay.

Who are the new cast members joining Home and Away?

Fans of Home and Away will be thrilled to learn that a number of longtime favorites and brand-new cast members will be joining the soap opera in 2025.

The most notable announcement is that Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor, the well-liked on-screen and real-life pair, will be returning to Summer Bay two years after they left. “I can’t wait for the action and for fans to see this storyline play out,” Patrick told Seven, reprising his roles as Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni. Sophie added, “It feels so good to be home.”

Home and Away star Lynne McGranger is also making a comeback to the screen. She left the program in August 2024 to participate in her theater performance of The Grandparents Club before having thyroid surgery.

Thankfully, the well-liked celebrity posted on social media to confirm that she is back on set to continue the story of her character Irene in Summer Bay.

In addition to returning cast members, Home and Away will welcome several new cast members in 2025. According to fan pages, Mandy Bishop, star of Law & Order: SVU and Drop Dead Weird, will play Dr. Liz Shaw.

Puberty Blues star Ellie Gall is said to be joining the show as the new girl in town, although it’s unclear if she will be a regular or a visitor.
