This year, the actor from Eastenders is portraying King Tucker in Sleeping Beauty at Lighthouse.
As Tucker Jenkins in Grange Hill and its spin-off Tucker’s Luck, Mark Fowler in EastEnders, and PC Gabriel Kent from The Bill, Todd is among the most well-known actors in British television.
When the 70th anniversary performance of Agatha Christie’s well-known whodunit took place at Lighthouse for a week at the end of April, he also portrayed Major Metcalf from The Mousetrap.
Chris Jarvis, who also portrays the Dame, is the writer and director of his upcoming project, Sleeping Beauty, which also features Adam Tuffrey as musical director, Daniel Donaldson Todd as choreographer, and James Smith as production designer.
“Sleeping Beauty is a new one for me,” Todd stated. Although this could be a different kind of monarch—we’ll have to wait and see—I have already portrayed a king in Jack and the Beanstalk.
“I adore panto because it’s accessible to people of all ages. You can simply let yourself go, whether you’re four or 104. I remember enjoying the lights, the spectacle, and all the songs when I saw my first pantomime, when I was maybe four years old.

“I enjoy having fun in panto.” It takes a lot of teamwork, and we all want to put on a show that the kids, parents, grandparents, and grandparents all love.
“I believe it’s a great touch because Lighthouse is recognized for keeping things contemporary and local. And Chris is really smart. Although we haven’t worked together previously, I’ve met him a few times on the circuit, and he’s a nice guy.
Todd had time to familiarize himself with the location during his week at Lighthouse in The Mousetrap at the end of April.
“I had a great time here,” he stated.
Strangely enough, I ran across a few of old acquaintances who had recently relocated to Dorset. They gave me a tour of the neighborhood, and I can understand why—it’s a stunning location. Families will undoubtedly visit for Christmas, and I’m sure to see many familiar faces.
“It’s nice to return, but even more so, it’s nice to be invited back.”
