When Nicola came in Albert Square to look for her ex-husband Teddy and her boys, Barney and Harry, she bonded with Zack. She also shared a tense stare with Zack as she spoke harshly to Sharon and even more sharply to Teddy.
It was immediately clear that the two were old friends, but how?

Zack and Nicola got back in touch when she later caught up with him. Viewers also discovered that the two had previously been in love when they caught up. With their chemistry still burning brightly, Zack complied with Nicola’s request to keep their past relationship a secret.

Fans posted their thoughts on the depth of Zack and Nicola’s relationship, as well as if Barney would be the unintended child of their union, on the social networking platform X.
“What if Zack’s son is Barney?” questioned a fan.
“Whoa, is Zack Barney’s father? Another person shared an unpleasant image of both guys appearing unhappy, saying, “The resemblance is there.”
“I don’t think they would follow the law, but Zack is 36 and Barney is 15. Therefore, it’s feasible that Barney isn’t Teddy’s son if Nicola and Zack had an affair while he was in his early 20s (because Zack is supposed to have a major plot element coming up),” one Reddit user said.
