Ruby Dobbs has been recast on Coronation Street in anticipation of a plot in which she wins the lead part in the Little Big Shotz Summer Spectacular.

Billie Naylor will replace Macy Alabi, who has played her since Ruby was born.

According to Metro.co.uk, the reason that original star Macy decided to leave the ITV soap was because she will be attending high school this year.

Before the big announcement at Little Big Shotz, Billie’s first moments as Ruby will show her watching sister Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) practise the solo.

Hope is confident that she will earn the lead role, and Ruby continues to be hopeful for her sister.

However, Glenda (Jodie Prenger) announces Ruby as the soloist and Hope as her backing singer when they get to Little Big Shotz.

Hope, whose anger is known to flare even under the best circumstances, is not pleased to serve as her sister’s backup.

While Ruby, on the other hand, is ecstatic about the chance.

However, when Glenda finds out the day before the concert that the community facility is unavailable, things could go awry.

Glenda is shocked to learn that Tai-Chi instructor Gerry has reserved the community centre for the entire day, casting doubt on the possibility of the performance.

Thankfully, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) makes the brilliant suggestion that she hold the event in the Bistro, which Glenda loves.

Ruby’s solo has it been saved?

Tonight (August 11), Billie’s first scenes as Ruby are scheduled to premiere.
