After marrying Queen member Brian May, Anita Dobson, who played Angie Watts on EastEnders, opened out about the “really tough” changes in her life.
Anita Dobson has talked about the “ups and downs” of her work, which included being on benefits for a while and going through “a tough change” after getting married. Before her recent life shift, the 75-year-old reminisced about being able to say yes to many offers in the early stages of her work as a single lady.
“There’s been difficult times where you’re trying to marry your career with your life, “she stated in 2021.It’s rather difficult when you do have a life and then all of a sudden you still want to go out and carry on with your activities.

You’re free when you’re by yourself. Anything you want to do is allowed. You have the option to say, “Yeah, I will.” I’m heading to Belgrade. Yes, I will. I would like acting in that play.”

“Suddenly when you’ve got, you know, animals, a house, a husband, a life, a big life, it’s really tough,” she said in an interview with Keep Calm and Kerry on podcast. It’s the responsibility of someone to maintain the house fires going. And, you know, maybe women still—I hate to say it—are the ones who really need to take care of one other.
“For men, it’s a much simpler decision.” Anita and Brian first got together in the 1980s and were married in 2000.

The EastEnders actor is a proud stepmother to the three children he shares with his first wife Chrissie Mullen, despite the fact that they do not have any children together. Anita had previously voiced concerns about losing her freedom and being married to Brian.
She revealed this in an interview with Woman and Home Magazine from 2016: “I didn’t really see it on the cards for us, even when I met Brian when I was in my mid-thirties. Our lifestyles were completely different from his, who was a great rock star.”
She continued by saying that her viewpoint changed after overcoming challenging circumstances related to the Queen tale. I told him, ‘I’m ready,’ one day. We got married two weeks later. and carrying it out at 51? It was the wisest choice I’ve ever made.
