Paul O’Grady died last year at the age of 67 and ITV are airing a new tribute to him, The Life and Death of Lily Savage, which will feature Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley
The Life and Death of Lily Savage, a Paul O’Grady tribute documentary, will feature appearances by Tony Maudsley, a Coronation Street star. The documentary is scheduled to premiere on Friday, March 29. Tony was a buddy of Paul’s who died suddenly at the age of 67 last year.
Tony, who recently revealed that his contract with Corrie had been extended, announced his involvement on social media, writing: “To mark the first anniversary of Paul’s passing, The Life and Death of Lily Savage will air on ITV1 this Easter, along with Paul’s final TV project; Paul O’Grady’s Great Elephant Adventure.”
After the news broke, a number of the actor’s admirers expressed how “emotional” they were to witness Paul’s last TV appearances. Use the WalesOnline Premium app on Apple or Android for the best possible user experience.
I’ll be keeping an eye on it. One user commented, “Can’t believe a year has gone by already,” and another said, “He was just the most amazing of men.” Truly compassionate, kind, and sincere, she will always be deeply missed.
“I won’t miss that one program,” remarked a third person. I’m grateful, Tony. It seems unbelievable that a year has passed. Paul was the most amazing person, and he will be sorely missed. A fourth person echoed, saying, “He is sorely missed.” Without him, the world would be a duller place. He was a true genius, and there will never be another one. RIP Always Paul/Lily hope Buster was there to greet him with loads of dog kisses, coupled with a bunch of emoticons depicting sobbing faces.
Another said, “It’s hard to imagine television without him; he was a very big talent with an even bigger heart. You’re definitely missed, Mr. Ogrady. A year since the Birkenhead bombshell left us, it’s gone so fast.”

On March 28, 2023, Paul “unexpectedly but peacefully” died away. André Portasio, the late TV star’s spouse, verified the information.
“It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening,” said a statement at the time. Loved ones, friends, family, animals, and everyone who cherished his compassion, wit, and humor will all miss him terribly. I’m sure he would want me to express my gratitude for all of your support and affection throughout the years.”
