Debbie brings drinks to Ken and Steve and, pointing to an elderly woman named Elspeth (Helen Lederer) in the corner, tells them that she bought them and has been eyeing Ken all evening. When Steve realizes that Ken has pulled, he finds it hard to believe it and gets back on the horse to head to the Rovers for the speed dating event.

Steve is not impressed when he sits down next to his divorced wife Tracy, who just cheated on him with former football player Tommy Orpington, at the speed dating event. However, he makes an instant connection with Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) at the next move. After the speed dating, Steve recommends to Cassie that they get together once more. When Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) gets home, Glenda informs her that their house has been broken into. Jenny insistence that Glenda take the morning off makes her put on a brave façade.

Glenda is inconsolable. Glenda offers Jenny and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) a nightcap because the pub is closed, but on her way to the bar, she remembers the terrible events of the previous evening and realizes they are having an impact on her.
