Coronation Street star Jack Carroll – who first appeared on screens in 2023 as Bobby Crawford – shared the news about his career.
Jack Carroll of Coronation Street, who revealed a significant career shift a few days ago, has received a tidal wave of support from his co-stars today. On the enduring program, the 25-year-old plays Bobby Crawford, the estranged son of brother Rob Donovan and nephew of Carla Barlow.
In addition to participating in several other projects, Jack—who advanced to the 2013 Britain’s Got Talent finals—co-wrote the short film Mobility, which was broadcast last year on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. According to the Mirror, the short film tells the tale of three sixth-form students who are “trapped together on a mobility bus” to school.
Alongside Zak Ford-Williams and Ruben Reuter, Jack plays the role of Mike, who, like the actor, has cerebral palsy. The project was nominated for a BAFTA last week in the Short Form category of the BAFTA Television Awards; the winner will be announced during the presentation in May.
“Mobility, the short film I co-wrote and starred in, has just been nominated for a BAFTA!” Jack commented on Instagram in response to the thrilling news. It’s still available to stream on iPlayer. It’s time to straighten my tuxedo and announce that I’ve been nominated for a BAFTA.”
He went on to say: “Huge thanks and congratulations to co-writer Tom Gregory, director Akaash Meeda and producer Sam Ward as well as the brilliant cast and crew and David Simpson and Tiger Aspect and the BBC.”

Several of Jack’s devoted followers and co-stars from the BBC serial opera sent encouraging comments on the page, wishing their colleague luck on his accomplishment.
Simon Barlow’s actor, Alex Bain, said, “WOW! Jack, it is amazing! Start the festivities right away, buddy!” “Congrats Jack!” wrote actor Adam Hussain, who portrays Aadi Alahan. “Congratulations, Jack,” murmured Sam Blakeman actor Jude Riordan.
“Get in lad!” was Anthony Crank’s response to the post. Anthony Crank plays drug dealer Dean Turnbull on the ITV drama.
Paddy Bever, who plays Max Turner in the cast, was one of the users who liked the post. The comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan are scheduled to headline the BAFTA Television Awards on May 12.
That evening, BBC One and BBC iPlayer will air it. Similar to the previous year, Coronation Street is not among the soap opera nominees for the most recent BAFTA awards.
