Stephen Reid from Coronation Street will die during Super Soap Week the following week, putting an end to his rule of terror in Weatherfield.
Producer of Coronation Street Ian MacLeod has hinted that “exciting” and “gasp-inducing” surprises are in store for ITV viewers as Super Soap Week gets underway and Todd Boyce’s character Stephen Reid’s (played by Reid) fall begins.
The citizens of Weatherfield are startled in upcoming scenes when they learn that a murderer lives among them.
Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) are on the prowl to find Stephen before he can add to his death toll, but are they too late?
Iain, the show’s executive producer, recently spoke to Express.co.uk and other media outlets about the upcoming exciting week and teased how tense some viewers might find the scenes.
“It’s so full of twists and the whole week, you just don’t know which way to turn, it’s really exciting,” he said.

“The performances are excellent, director David Kester did a fantastic job, and the lighting team did a fantastic job of making it feel like Coronation Street while making it look special and cinematic.
As we enjoy the ride of Stephen trying to get away with his crimes, I believe it is full of surprises and that things will happen.
“You think ‘There is no way I was seeing this coming’ and it is full of gasp-inducing shocks and surprises.”
Iain added that Stephen’s actions have had a “ripple” effect on the neighborhood and explained why he thought it was crucial for the majority of the street to band together in order to catch him.

He observed: “What a soap does best is involve the entire community; it’s not just ‘Stephen has done some bad stuff’.”
“It has an impact on the entire street, and that’s just a lot more entertaining to watch, don’t you think? Otherwise, it ceases to feel like a soap opera.
“We wanted to investigate how he has affected a variety of people, including Sarah who trusted him and Carla, Peter, Audrey, and Audrey directly.
“We just love the idea of all these chickens coming home to roost,” said Michael, who has also been mentored by him, “and yeah, he has just had this far-reaching impact on all these characters.
“Stephen was the golden boy of the wider Platt slash Roberts family, he came in and everyone couldn’t see at first but he was the most desperate man on the street and was operating in plain sight.”
