Stephen Reid uses desperate measures to leave Weatherfield as Super Soap Week on Coronation Street comes to an end, leaving his family in his wake.
Stephen Reid from Coronation Street, played by Todd Boyce, tried to leave the country on Wednesday night but was foiled when he realized he didn’t have his passport.

In scenes that will air tonight, Stephen confronts Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews), the two people he loves the most, and leaves them fighting for their lives.

After successfully eliminating Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), defrauding Underworld, and escaping to the airport, he returned to Weatherfield to confront Jenny about his lost passport.

When Jenny hears a disturbance, Sarah quickly follows her to the pub because she saw someone upstairs and wanted to make sure everything was okay.

Jenny is told about the murders that Stephen has committed by Sarah, and both she and Jenny realize they are not alone in the Rovers.

Stephen desperately tries to silence Sarah by hitting her over the head with a bottle as the walls close in around him.

Following that, Jenny and Stephen engage in a cat-and-mouse game as Jenny seeks explanations for the crimes Stephen has committed.

Is Stephen, who is also holding Jenny hostage and threatening her with a broken bottle, actually capable of killing a member of his own family?

As Stephen makes his bid for freedom, will either woman be able to escape his grasp unharmed? Will DS Swain catch her man, or what?

Todd Boyce, who plays Stephen, recently discussed his departure and said he thought the plot wrapped up just in time for him.

Todd said in a press interview with Express.co.uk and other outlets: “I think the audience will be happy with how it shakes out.

“They have put up with a lot of frustrations, people have pointed out that there have been many murderers in history who are undetected for decades.

“But in the soap opera industry, you can only tolerate that injustice for so long, so I believe the timing is ideal.

“Ian and I at one point were talking about staying a little longer but I can’t be more pleased with the duration and the means, I think it is perfect and I am thrilled with it.”
