For star of Days of Our Lives Greg Vaughan (Eric), what began as a joyful family ski holiday quickly became a terrifying medical emergency! The actor revealed on Instagram how he ended up in urgent care after traveling to Colorado for his sons’ spring break! He joked, “I really feel like I work and live in a soap opera—I’ve said that more than a few times.” “This trip was an incredible experience, as always from Vaughan!”
During the initial days that Vaughan and his three sons, Landan, Cavan, and Jonathan, spent at the Cooper Mountain ski resort in the Rocky Mountains, everything appeared to be going according to plan. The actor, who previously portrayed Lucky in GENERAL HOSPITAL, posted pictures of the group and a few buddies sledding, snowboarding, and skiing. Regretfully, Vaughan’s situation quickly changed. During his Colorado spring break, Vaughan posted a selfie of himself on oxygen and a description of his declining health in his third post.
He said, “I was feeling a little exhausted after a day, having trouble breathing when climbing a few flights of stairs, wheezy, having some congestion after some cold, snowy conditions, and a headache was starting.” “I drank a bottle of Pedialyte and NyQuil’d myself out for the night to be ready to tackle [Breckenridge] with the boys the next morning because I had stayed hydrated throughout the day.”
Regretfully, Vaughan didn’t feel any better in the morning after a rather sleepless night. He said, “My head felt like it was in a walnut cracker!” and expressed his disappointment at having to inform his sons and the friends they were traveling with that he would be staying home to recuperate. As the day wore on, [I] simply grew worse! I tried not to worry about losing another day with my babies or having another terrible night, but my mind was racing.

Having missed two full days due to illness, Vaughan “finally surrendered” and went to the urgent care center in the area. He said, “I discovered to my dismay that I was suffering from severe altitude sickness.” “My lungs were bursting with fluid, and my blood oxygen level was only 54%! The percentage of oxygen-carrying hemoglobin in your red blood cells is called blood oxygen, or oxygen saturation. The oxygen level in most persons is between 95% and 100%.
After numerous bags of IVs and oxygen therapy, he was, happily, improving several hours later. In his follow-up, Vaughan shared a picture of his smartwatch, which indicated a normal blood oxygen range. The medical personnel, however, advised him to head down the mountain right away. “I was unable to,” he said. “We wanted the boys to enjoy their last day on the hilltops since we still had one day left.”
The DAYS actress decided to wear an oxygen mask when she returned home. “My boys took care of their old man, and luckily for them, they were traveling with friends!” the statement finished. “The Colorado Rockies are no laughing matter!”
