One of the most eagerly awaited events on the holiday TV schedules is undoubtedly the drama that takes place in the EastEnders Christmas special.
But according to reports, the shocking storyline for this year’s episode was unveiled after a screenplay was inadvertently left on a train, in a plot twist that rivals a dramatic soap opera finale.
The Sun reports that on the morning of October 31, a passenger discovered a screenplay with information on two Christmas episodes on a Thameslink train at Elstree & Borehamwood station, which is close to the Elstree Studios filming location. The document was then returned to the show’s creators.
According to the newspaper, a major character will be murdered off this Christmas, according to the screenplays.
“There’s a real twist that will shock everyone and a main character is killed off,” the passenger’s wife allegedly informed the tabloid after he discovered the documents. The plot of the novel is amazing.
“Her lines were highlighted, and there were Post-it notes with scrawled writing stuck to the pages, so it was obvious that the script belonged to an EastEnders actress,” she continued.

Additionally, a paper containing the actress’s penciled filming schedule was included. We were so anxious to return the script to her.
The passenger’s wife stated that they messaged the actor on Instagram to let them know they had located the screenplay, but they didn’t hear back. They haven’t disclosed the actor’s name.
“A big thank you to The Sun for the safe return of our festive scripts,” an EastEnders spokesperson told the publication in a statement.
“Our surprises will continue to be a treat this Christmas and beyond because we know how much the audience enjoys watching the drama unfold for themselves rather than having it spoilt.” The BBC has been approached by The Independent for comment.
While the second filming session began on November 4 and will run through Friday, November 15, the first two episodes in the screenplay were filmed from October 14 to November 1.
The soap opera will broadcast a live episode with an interactive twist to commemorate its 40th anniversary next year.
For the first time since the show’s 30th anniversary in 2015, when Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) learned that his son Bobby (Elliot Carrington) had murdered his sister Lucy (Hetti Bywater), EastEnders will be filming a live episode.

The show’s creators will give fans the ability to decide how a love tale turns out in the episode that premieres early next year.
In February, the trial episode will show, with the actors and crew prepared to represent the final scene selected by the audience that evening.
“The 40th anniversary is a milestone event for EastEnders, and we have been planning this week for a long time to ensure that it’s a week full of drama and surprises,” said Chris Clenshaw, executive producer of EastEnders, in a statement.
“As our regular audience is aware, we have already witnessed the return of familiar faces, and we have many more nods to our history to come, which will all build up to our momentous anniversary week,” he said.
In addition, it was revealed that after a 10-year break, the popular character David Wicks, the son of Pat Butcher and her first husband Pete (played by Michael French), will make a comeback to Albert Square for the soap opera’s 40th anniversary.
