Fans of EastEnders were left worrying as pictures from a funeral surfaced, potentially confirming that their cherished character will die off on the BBC soap opera.
Fans of EastEnders were “absolutely heartbroken” to learn that a favorite character had passed away. The cast of the BBC soap opera was spotted filming funeral sequences, which fueled speculation about a Walford icon’s possible passing.
Pictures that were leaked to The Sun showed a somber procession leading into a church carrying a white casket, with members of the Carter family, including Johnny (Charlie Suff) and Elaine (Harriet Thorpe), in attendance. But Linda Carter’s actress Kellie Bright was not to be seen, raising rumors that her character was bidding Albert Square farewell.
As per the Manchester Evening News, the storyline became more intricate when Kellie Bright alluded to a significant turn for her character on social media. She shared a mysterious photo of herself at a pottery lesson holding a piece that said “The End,” which may have anything to do with the demise of her alter persona.
People on social media, especially on X, the former Twitter, voiced their fear over the potential departure. A fan wrote: “Kellie posting this photo today with ‘The End’ in her pottery piece, along with the funeral pics, is worrying me.”
“I will have a breakdown and hold the BBC personally responsible if that’s Linda’s funeral,” expressed another upset viewer, according to Birmingham Live.
A third wailed, “I’m not able to. I’m not physically able to… They wouldn’t murder her, surely? If it turns out to be “true,” I will be devastated.”
