James Farrar, who plays Zack Hudson in EastEnders, has hinted at a massive new plot for the character.

At the Inside Soap Awards on Monday, September 30, the actor told The Mirror that Zack will be the main character in a plot that “no one knows about” come next year.

Farrar announced that the top-secret narrative filming is “starting around now” and expressed his delight about the sequences that would eventually be seen on screen.

“There is something really exciting coming up next year that nobody really knows about yet,” he stated.

“It keeps me motivated to go to work every day… I can’t wait for it to begin. It has only recently begun.”

Following the revelation of his night with Lauren Branning, Zack and his fiancée Whitney Dean called it quits. Since then, he has had a turbulent year. Then Whitney made the decision to move out of Walford with Dolly, her newborn daughter, and Zack.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Farrar discussed how Whitney’s leaving has affected Zack and suggested how the character would go on.

“There is trauma there, and I don’t think discovering himself is the best way to describe it. “He’s a decent guy, but he makes poor choices,” he remarked. It has been quite painful to attempt to handle things without Whitney. He only wants to spend time with his kid.

In 2021, Farrar joins the BBC soap opera as the half-brother hidden underneath Sharon Watts. Since his debut, he has been a part of several intense tales.

Last year, Zack received an HIV diagnosis; the character broke the devastating news to the Walford community. Following the discovery by medical professionals that Peach had a chromosomal issue, Zack and Whitney also experienced the terrible loss of their daughter.

The terrifying 2023 Christmas murder mystery on EastEnders won Best Showstopper at this year’s Inside Soap Awards.

Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki Panesar, was crowned Soap Superstar, and Navin Chowdhry, who plays Suki’s ex-husband Nish Panesar, took home the Best Soap Villain award.
