An EastEnders star who landed a part in a massively popular Netflix series looks totally unrecognizable.

When Lucy Speed made her appearance in the new Heartstopper series, which debuted this week on the streaming service, she seemed a world away from her well-known Walford character, Natalie Speed.

The 48-year-old actress portrayed Natalie in 526 episodes of the BBC One soap drama that aired from 1994 to 2004.

In addition, she gained notoriety for her role as DS Stevie Moss in the 2008–2010 ITV police drama series The Bill.

In the third season of Heartstopper, she portrays Susan, a healthcare worker. The show follows two teenagers, Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), as they negotiate adolescence and school while learning that their unexpected relationship might be more.

Episode four of the new series features Lucy as a mental health and eating disorder support worker.

Lucy enthused about being a part of the series and shared a bunch of behind-the-scenes cast photos on social media.

“The entire Heartstopper cast is the most divine bunch of humans,” the writer said on X.

“Their treatment of my own beautiful young’un was gracious and inclusive, and my tiny involvement in this beautiful fairy tale was a privilege.” Really true to brand.

Joe, 21, and Kit, 20, talked about filming season three and how they took things to the next level in an interview with GQ Magazine. They also talked about how scary it was to see the show with their parents.

Kit disclosed the duration of their raucous sequences, saying, “We shot the sexy stuff for seven hours, which, you know, that’ll do it.” We were both simply exhausted. Joe’s chin developed this massive scab.

As Kit revealed that they both had their own stubble—a classic case of beard burn from all the kissing—Joe interjected, calling it “horrible.”

The actors said that the scabs weren’t healing—instead, they were getting worse—because they were “kissing so much” throughout the scenes.

Joe told his mother she could watch the “wholesome sex scenes” on her own, even though he couldn’t stand to watch them with her.

As Netflix releases the season three trailer featuring the “missing” character, heartstopper fans are left “crying and throwing up,” yet everything isn’t as it seems article image
“You just can’t watch this with your mum,” he admitted, as he was watching the screener with her a few weeks ago. He nearly gave up on episode six. Even the clean sex scenes are too much for me to handle.

We went and sat on the sofa, but it was uncomfortable and awkward, and the actor continued, saying, “Yeah, you know what? This can be watched alone. My Netflix account is with you. The pin is in your possession. You simply watch it by yourself.”

It happens after the season three trailer for Heartstopper was released by Netflix last week, leaving fans “crying and throwing up.”

With Charlie Spring (played by Joe) enjoying music on the beach in the teaser, Netflix watchers couldn’t resist their enthusiasm for the newest release.

Then Kit’s character Nick Nelson ran over and gave him a lighthearted poke in the cheek.

After that, a voiceover mash-up of numerous characters from the show appeared in the footage.

“Sixteen is when nothing makes sense anymore,” was the opening line. It’s all just… a lot. I’m thinking about going to university and starting sixth form.

Then, as Charlie is shown battling his eating condition and removing himself from his friendship circle, the teaser revealed a delicate plot point pertaining to his mental health.

Nick confides in Charlie that he has been feeling “extremely stressed” and that he is “really worried.”

A preview of Jonathan Bailey’s debut as Bridgerton star was also given to viewers.

He plays Jack Maddox, a novelist who is well-known on Instagram.

A brief preview of the comic’s poignant shower scene in live-action was also shown to viewers.

Fans are excitedly awaiting Charlie and Nick’s first love confession, which happens at this point.

Fans weren’t, however, as infatuated by this as they were by Olivia Colman’s conspicuously conspicuous absence from the show, which starred her as Nick’s mother in seasons one and two.

Olivia has not been replaced, despite the fact that many fans wondered whether she had been after viewing a scene on the beach when Nick was with a new mother figure.

As Olivia revealed to Forbes earlier this year, the woman on the beach is actually Nick’s aunt, and she ‘could not fit [filming] in’.

‘I couldn’t do number three,’ she said to the publication. It did not fit in. I’m so sorry about it.

MailOnline has confirmation from Netflix that she has not been permanently replaced, even if she is not able to star in the third season.

“There is no replacement casting for Olivia Colman in the upcoming season,” the streaming behemoth revealed to MailOnline.

Fans expressed their excitement for the show and went into a tailspin at the idea of Olivia being replaced, even though Olivia had said she would not be returning for the upcoming season.

Someone wrote: “Is Olivia Coleman really a new cast member? Is the woman Nick is with his new mother on the beach?
