As we were beginning to doubt that Michael French’s portrayal of David Wicks could become any more famous, the BBC soap opera revealed a last-minute appearance that fans of the show will undoubtedly adore.

When David saw Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) in a passionate embrace with her boyfriend, Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), he was about to depart Walford once more.

Cindy sent Junior away while she made her case because she was desperate to prevent David from telling his half-brother, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), and her fiancé.

After a heated altercation at Beale’s Eels, David said that Cindy didn’t give a damn about the deaths of two of her children, which led to a slap from Cindy.

After everything had subsided, David urged Cindy to pick him over Ian or Junior since he remembered how they once felt!

David’s offer was mocked by Cindy, who also revealed something that may come back to haunt her. However, it all culminated with David storming back to The Queen Vic, eager to tell Ian the truth.

But Ian was already being urged to move on from his past and make apologies with David for his previous romance with Cindy by his mother Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth).

David tried to be honest, but Ian welcomed him with open arms, so David wished Ian and Cindy well. Cindy thanked David outside the bar, giving him a farewell kiss and telling him she did love him once.

David invited his daughter Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) to accompany him up north so he could take care of her and introduce her to someone, all while keeping Cindy’s remarks about his prior desertion fresh in his mind.

B declined, but they made a heartfelt promise to keep in touch.

David received a second call from someone named Holly as he was leaving Albert Square, and when he accepted the video call, a young blonde female welcomed him.

Joe Wicks, David’s son, joined the conversation shortly after she introduced her father. Paul Nicholls, who was playing Joe again, said that he was on his way to see them and that Joe was looking well.

Joe hasn’t been seen since 1997, so this was a touching turn of events to cap off another exciting week in EastEnders.
