GH’s Rena Sofer Mourns The Death Of Her Family’s Dog, Alfie

Our thoughts are with Rena Sofer (Lois) and her family at General Hospital as they mourn the loss of their cherished dog, Alfie. It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loving pet. The GH actress and her husband, director Sanford Bookstaver, shared the devastating news that Alfie had passed away from cancer in two Instagram photos.

“I could talk about too much. But for now, I’m at a loss for words. Everything is simply so painful,” Sofer penned. “Yesterday was the most catastrophic day that was also predicted. However, it happened too quickly.

When Sofer played Quinn in THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL in 2017, she took in Alfie and his sister Mega as her first canines. The actress and Bookstaver, together with their daughter Avalon, have fostered innumerable puppies and welcomed multiple rescue dogs into their house over the years. Alfie passed away eight months after Princess Carolyn, one of the family’s other rescue dogs, died in July 2023.

My boy was with me for a little seven years and eight days. He was taken from me, Sandy, Avalon, and his sister Mega by cancer. from everyone he was close to and loved,” Sofer went on. I adore all of my dogs, but I can honestly say that Alfie was my favorite. My soul dog, my heart. I am numb and destroyed. We gave each other the best gift we could have ever given. You will always be missed, forever and ever.

“We will miss you every day forever and ever,” wrote Bookstaver.

The spouse of Sofer said, “We have had many, many dogs, but Alfie was Rena’s baby boy and true love.”

When Sofer saved them, Alfie and his sister Mega were a bonded pair.

Bookstaver remarked, “He was only alive for seven years, but they were beautiful.” Alfie lived with the family for those seven years.

In a heartwarming video, Sofer sobbed and held Mega in her other hand while kissing Alfie’s head. “That’s your brother,” she said, chuckling despite her tears.
