The new ITV drama has also been likened to a crossover between Stranger Things and Happy Valley.

Fans have been thrown into a frenzy since the six-part series premiered on March 24.

Fans of the new ITV series, which was produced by Andrew Buchan of Broadchuch, have complimented the show for fusing Happy Valley themes with “Stranger Things vibes” and have left them wanting more.

The plot of Passenger centers on the unexplained disappearance of Rowan Robinson’s character, Katie Wells, a teenage girl, and D.I. Riya Ajunwa’s inquiry in the fictitious northern community of Chadder Vale.

Fans were left perplexed and wondering, “What is actually going on?” on the first episode of the show after seeing Katie disappear during an odd meeting in the forest.

The teenager returns home unharmed later, and D.I. Riya Ajunwa, who was assigned to the missing person’s case, is certain that something unusual is occurring in the woods, so she decides to look into it further.

Even though the narrative confused fans at first, they can’t seem to get enough of the show as it develops.

While talking about the episode on social media, audiences have been glued to their TVs thanks to edgy memories and suspicious men getting released from prison.

“Enjoyed episode 1 of #Passenger bit strange kinda Happy Valley meets Stranger things with a hint of Fargo?” asked one user on X (Twitter).

An additional person said, “This is like Corrie on acid in the snow.”

After two episodes, Royston Vasey feels like Fargo has arrived. A third person said, “What’s not to like (unless you live there)?” after that.

A fourth person commented, saying, “Just saw #Passenger’s first episode. It’s like Shameless meets The Fog meets Fargo meets Happy Valley! I’m not sure what’s going on (does anyone? ), but I’m definitely captivated! It appears that we will be binge-watching this.”

A fifth, however, said, “Bring on season 2!”
