For the next three weeks, Channel 5’s Summer Bay action will not be available to UK home and away supporters.
As of today, November 23, the well-liked daytime soap opera has been removed off the program in order to take its yearly holiday vacation.

Each year, Channel 5 switches off Home and Away in the last stretch before Christmas to keep a distance from the Australian broadcasts.
Last Thursday, November 19, 5STAR and Channel 5 broadcasted the last UK episode of the year on November 20.
The show ended abruptly when Patrick O’Connor’s character, Dean Thompson, decided to abduct his little son Jai Simmons out of concern that he would lose custody of him.
The formal comeback date of the show is not expected to be announced until closer to the time of its anticipated January return.

Since Home and Away doesn’t air year-round in Australia either, Channel 5 is compelled to take an annual break. It usually airs enough episodes to run on Channel 5 for 46 weeks out of the year, but the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 caused even less programs to air than normal.
The program will soon be on a hiatus in Australia as well; on Monday, November 30, Channel 7 will air a 90-minute season finale episode.
Neighbours, another Australian soap opera, is now airing as scheduled, however the midday episode has been shifted to the earlier time slot of 1pm.
Before Christmas, Channel 5 will be showing holiday movies in the afternoon, while Friends reruns will take over Home and Away’s 6 p.m. time slot.
