Home And Away Stars Tease Plans To Leave The Show After Co-star's Exit

Fans of Home and Away have had a very eventful month following the show’s unexpected departure of Jacqui Purvis’s Felicity Newman. In case you missed it, Felicity passed away during the heartbreaking triple episode of last week after suffering a brain aneurysm at her brother Cash’s engagement party.

Although fans were naturally upset by Jacqui’s tragic leave, it appears like the actress received exactly what she had been hoping for. In an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle in 2022, Jacqui expressed her desire for a “really dramatic death” to occur when Felicity eventually left the show.

She said to us, “I want to die; I want a really dramatic death—something intense and gory that leaves everyone crying.” “Yes, death, indeed, die!”

Similarly, two of Jacqui’s co-stars have already disclosed how she would like to bid Summer Bay farewell in the future. But let’s face it—the soap opera wouldn’t really murder off two cherished characters so soon, would it?

At the 2024 Logie Awards last week, Emily Weir and Tristan Gorey—who portray the on-screen couple Mackenzie Booth and Levi Fowler—told Yahoo Lifestyle that they have some ideas regarding how they might finally leave Home and Away.

I personally don’t want to pass away. Emily laughed and continued, “I want to leave the Bay so there’s always a place where I can come back to.” But, you know, I’d actually rather be in a gunfight or something truly out of the ordinary if I had to. Perform some martial arts exercises, such as a battle scene.

Tristan, meanwhile, claimed he could picture his character Dr. Levi turning “bad” just before his death on screen.

“I think Dr. Levi ought to go bad, and then he should be chasing after Mackenzie while she’s running, and he just stumbles and falls and hits his head,” he said in detail.

“Oh, how dull!” Emily answered. “That was boring, that’s a boring one.”

About Jacqui Purvis’ exit from the show, Tristan also spoke candidly with Yahoo Lifestyle, acknowledging that the cast was shocked to hear of her departure.

It’s terrible to watch any cherished cast member go, to be honest. He remarked, “I remember helping Jacqui with that audition to get into Home and Away.”

It was quite painful to see her go from the program a few years later. However, I think she’s onto something truly special, and I want the best for her.

Although Jacqui Purvis had a great time working on Home and Away, she felt that it was time for her to leave the soap opera, as she had stated to Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this month.

I’ve had an amazing experience working on the show. a few of my greatest years ever. But I had to decide to go and take the risk because I knew I wanted an international career,” she said.

I feel so confident and prepared to step on the global stage because of the show, which I owe so much to. I’m incredibly appreciative of the fans’ support during the years I’ve been on the show.
