In upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) will discover a little more about the unpleasant realities of working in the NHS.
Aggie, Ed’s wife, is a nurse at Weatherfield General Hospital, played by Lorna Laidlaw. She has helped a number of personalities throughout the years with their issues, had to relocate during the Coronavirus outbreak, and most recently, dealt with her nightmare boss Mr. Thorne, who frequently took advantage of his powerful position.
Future episodes will feature Michael (Ryan Russell) being admitted to the hospital, but he is there to support Cassie (Claire Sweeney), a newcomer who is in pain after being confronted by Dean, a drug dealer we first met when Abi (Sally Carman) relapsed following her one-night stand with Imran (Charlie de Melo).
After telling Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that she visited the Citizens Advice Bureau, Cassie encounters Dean. When Dean confronts her about the amount of money she owes him, things get out of hand.
Ronnie (Vinta Morgan), who comes just as Michael and Dean are arguing, follows Dean while Cassie and Michael wait in the hospital.
Ronnie believes they should contact the police after Dean punches Michael, but Cassie begs them not to.
Later, Ronnie is horrified to learn from Michael that Aggie experiences this type of situation frequently.
After that, he makes use of the knowledge to persuade Ed to support their new business venture, which would eventually allow Aggie to retire.
Will he, though?
And maybe most significantly, will Aggie want to leave her position?
