Young & Restless Tees Up A Sharon Crisis We Never Saw Coming

We never would have predicted that The Young and the Restless would ever consider putting Sharon — Sharon! — on the back burner. And yet, here we are. Even worse, look at her. The adored alter ego of Emmy winner Sharon Case is stumbling around without a narrative of her own.

It just didn’t have to be like this.

Chance and Sharon’s connection appeared to be energizing them both. However, the performance gave her a dream, and when she woke up, she was overly bored with him. At least Sharon’s return to the corporate world promised to keep her in close contact and conflict with the Newmans, even though Genoa City didn’t need another CEO. But it hasn’t. After giving Cameron’s business a new name, Cassidy First Technologies, she was done.

Perhaps, and we can only hope, Young & Restless is preparing Sharon for a spectacular new romance. Return Scott, Lauren’s son, a little older and mature enough to never betray her again. Put her in the path of Bold & Beautiful tycoon Bill to take advantage of Case’s rapport with Don Diamont (who, you know, used to play Brad).

Alternately, the show might cast an MVP that viewers of daytime television miss often and establish a completely new character. If one could entice William deVry (ex-Julian, General Hospital), that is. Maybe Matt Cedeño (formerly of Brandon Days of Our Lives) or… There are countless options.
